How do I know if my child is eligible?

To be eligible to play in Willow Glen Little League (WGLL), your child must either reside in our league boundaries or attend a school within our league boundaries. You may look at the map here or enter your child’s address here

If registering your child based on school eligibility, please upload the Little League School Enrollment form instead of the standard verification documents.

If you have previously been verified and played in WGLL and have moved or attend a different school, please upload the regulation II(d) waiver form instead of the standard verification documents.

How do I know my child’s little league age for 2020?
Please refer to the 2020 Little League Age Chart to determine your child’s “League age” before selecting the appropriate division during the registration process. In addition, please note that all children with League ages 8-12 need to participate in evaluations on Saturday, January 11. More details to come.

How do I know which division to register for?

Division Summaries:

T-Ball (League Age 4-6)
Introduction to the game and being on a team in a fun, low-key environment is stressed.  All players are on the field for defense during each inning. No outs are recorded, keeping players on base.  All players bat every inning. One base at a time runners/batters and no score is kept.  The maximum eligible age for T-Ball is 6. 6 year olds should only join if they have no previous baseball experience.

Single A (League Age 6-8)
Single A is played on a regulation field and is coach pitch.  The emphasis at this level is on learning to hit and beginning to make plays in the field. Single A is for 6 year olds and 8 year olds who are just beginning baseball. Players at this level begin to make routine plays in the field and can consistently hit a thrown pitch. Outs are recorded. The maximum eligible age for Single A is 8. 8 year olds should only join if they have no previous baseball experience.

Minors AA (League Age 8-10)
AA is the first year of kid pitch from mound.  AA is for advanced 8 year olds, and beginning 9 and 10 year olds.  This is the first level of competitive baseball. This level is designed to prepare players for the AAA and Majors levels.  Players at this level consistently make routine plays in the field and begin to understand some advanced concepts. Kid pitching is introduced and pitching and catching become important.  Wins and losses are kept. Many players will repeat this level to gain more skills before advancing to AAA. The maximum eligible age for AA is 10.

Minors AAA (League Age 9-11)
AAA is the last division of minor baseball and is for players 9-11.  AAA is for advanced 9's, 10's that have played at least one year of AA, and 11's not prepared for majors.  Players play using the standard little league rules and the game is fast moving. Steals are permitted. AAA players are eligible for post-season play.

Majors (League Age 11-12)
Majors is the premier level in Little League baseball.  Play is very competitive and it's recommended that players have 2 years of AAA experience before playing in Majors.  Pitching speeds of 50 to 60 mph, and the quickness of play in the infield, requires a great amount of attention.

Intermediate 50/70 (League Age 12-13)
NEW FOR 2020 WGLL: Intermediates is a program for 13 year olds, but 12 year olds are welcome to play both Intermediate and Majors. The division, which was new division of Little League Baseball in 2010 for players league-age 12-13 with postseason tournament opportunities, including a World Series, offers a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior/Big League field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths). Many of the Junior League rules are used such as runners being permitted to lead off bases, runners may attempt to steal at any time, and allowing an on-deck batter.

Challengers (League Age 5-18)
The Challengers Division provides a safe place for kids ages 5 to 18 who may have physical or mental challenges to come out and enjoy the game of Little League baseball.  Willow Glen Little League welcomes all Challenger baseball kids regardless of residency to play at Willow Glen Little League's Challenger division. Each spring, a team of boys and girls get together and play other local Challenger teams from the south bay area to make it an afternoon they won't forget.  The season is typically from late March through May.
